Tax 2022: When is the last day to file taxes?

The deadline to file your tax return is inching closer. The IRS started processing returns on January 24, 2022.

Here's what you need to know about tax season deadlines this 2022.

For most taxpayers, the last day to file your taxes is April 18, 2022.

Taxpayers who filed for an extension have until October 15 to send their returns.

But if you owe taxes, they must be paid by the April deadline.

If you miss the deadline and you owe the IRS, the penalties kick in.

Penalties can reach 5%- 25% of the amount owed for each month you are late.
