Evidently, a taxpayer can call the IRS number at any given point in time. However, the IRS will rarely contact you for your personal and financial details. Therefore, keep an eye out for IRS phone scams. The IRS will not call you to demand payment or ask you to pay your tax bill with prepaid cards, gift cards or wire transfers.
